GEORGETOWN – West Indies stumbled to a nine-wicket clobbering at the hands of Bangladesh in the second One-day International on Wednesday in Guyana, marking their 10th successive loss and fourth bilateral series defeat on the trot to the Asian side.
Sent in to bat at the Guyana National Stadium, West Indies slumped to their second lowest ever total against the Bangladeshis – 108 all out off 35 overs – all-rounder Keemo Paul top scoring with an unbeaten 25 off 24 balls after recovering from a recent bout of COVID-19.
Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan bagged 4-29 to destroy the West Indies’ innings, but left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed claimed 3-19 from 10 overs and was named Player-of-the-Match.
Bangladesh hardly missed a step in their reply, steaming to the target in the 21st over, with captain Tamim Iqbal unbeaten on 50 from 62 balls, and Litton Das hitting a breezy 32 not out off only 27 balls.
The defeat for West Indies was their second in four days after going down by six wickets in the first ODI on Sunday at the same venue. (CMC)
