Shamar Joseph to headline WI squad for T20

Fast bowling sensation Shamar Joseph headlines the West Indies 15 man squad for this summer’s T20 World Cup.

Despite never being capped by the West Indies in the format, Joseph’s exploits against Australia during last year’s drawn test series has propelled him into the firing line. The 24 year old from Guyana made shockwaves around the cricketing world when he took 13 wickets in two matches down under, including a match winning seven wicket haul at the Gabba.

Shimron Hetmyer has also been included, with the selection panel led by the Most Honourable Dr Desmond Haynes seeing him occupying the role of a finisher in the batting lineup when selected for this World Cup.

There have been no reserves announced as yet as the selection panel have elected to wait until the end of the West Indies’ A T20 series against Nepal and the upcoming series against South Africa to name the reserves in the case of injuries or changes in form.
