A senior electoral official pleaded not guilty to assaulting his boss, and was granted bail in the Magistrate’s Court.
Wayne Roosevelt Taylor, 50, of Wanstead Heights, St James, was granted $10 000 bail with a surety by Magistrate Jared Richards when he was arraigned in the No. 5 Supreme Court.
Dapperly dressed in a dark suit, and accompanied by his attorney Einsley Grainger, Taylor denied assaulting Supervisor of Elections, Angela Taylor, at the Warrens, St Michael offices of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission on January 20.
The incident allegedly occurred in the wee hours of the morning after the country’s general election count was winding down.
The supervisor was seen leaving Barbados on Friday for a trip she had previously arranged.
The accused Taylor, a senior electoral registration officer, is scheduled to return to court on May 23 at Court No. 2 of the Magistrate’s Court for the assault occasioning actual bodily harm case to commence. (BA)
