Arawak reaches out to residents

The cries of residents living around the Arawak Cement Plant in St Lucy have been heard with management scheduling a meeting for next week.

Yesterday, some of them said officials from the plant visited them as part of a scouting mission to hear and see their concerns for themselves.

As a result, a meeting for next Tuesday is now on the cards.

This latest action was spearheaded by Mitch Blackman, who arranged the tour and Melony James, whose pleas and concerns regarding the health of residents posted on social media and published in the DAILY NATION again brought the spotlight on the long running situation. (CA)
