714 new virus cases

There were 714 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, 310 males and 404 females, recorded on Monday, February 7, from among the 2 674 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the positive cases, 150 people were under the age of 18, and 564 were 18 years and older.

People in isolation facilities numbered 158, while 12 300 were in home isolation.

Two women, aged 38 and 63, died from COVID-19 on Monday. They passed away while at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility, and were both unvaccinated.

As at February 7, the virus had claimed 288 lives.

The public health laboratory has carried out 556 437 tests since February 2020, and recorded 49 372 COVID-19 cases (22 899 males and 26 473 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 159 123 (69.7 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 147 785 (54.5 per cent of the total population or 64.7 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
