‘Workers want more than pay’

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that Barbadian employees are not just interested in a pay cheque but want more opportunities to develop their careers.

Caribbean Catalyst Inc. managing director Rosalind Jackson said that was one of her main takeaways from this year’s Barbados’ Best Employers (BBE) programme, an initiative which shines the spotlight on the best employment practices in Barbados and helps companies achieve continuous improvement.

Jackson was speaking as the human resources consulting firm announced four finalists in the BBE programme which is sponsored by The Nation Group via its Barbados Business Authority publication.

The small category finalists are Eric Hassell Shipping Ltd. and Rosedale Dental Centre, and the medium category finalists are Chancery Chambers and SigniaGlobe Financial Group Inc. There were no participants in the large category this year.
