White Hill folk promised garbage pick-up

Residents in White Hill, St Andrew, have been promised garbage collection by the end of today, after not having a service after the General Election.

Carlitha Andrews, speaking on behalf of the residents in the area, said the situation was overbearing and they were calling on the relevant authorities to pick up the refuse.

“The last time we had a garbage pickup was a week or two before elections. I called to ask when we would be getting one and the response was not pleasant and I would like to know what we are supposed to do with almost a month of garbage piled up. This is a health hazard and at the end of the day nobody will help we with medical bills,” she said.

Andrews said the pile-up was attracting rats and the dogs were making a mess of the garbage.

“It is in front people houses and people have to come out every day and be raking up garbage which is very unsightly and unhealthy. There are people in positions being paid to do this. I want to know if the people of White Hill, St Andrew, do not pay sewage tax, if they are not tax payers. I want to know what is going on. You cannot get a proper response from Sanitation personnel. The person who is supposed to be giving you information is telling you what they feel like and we cannot accept that. We have had enough,” she cried. (RA)
