VIDEO: Revitalising Bridgetown

Once the hub of commerce and even a home for night life, Barbados’ capital city Bridgetown is a shadow of its former self.

Traffic, both pedestrian and vehicular is much reduced, and unfortunately, this has led to the closure of many businesses. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had its impact.

From the main Broad Street and across The City, more and more ‘for rent’ or ‘for lease’ signs are popping up.

Nation News’ Akeel Lovell recently spent some time in Bridgetown talking to those who ply their trade there, and also spoke with Eddy Abed of the Chamber of Commerce on how the area has changed over time and prospects for the future.
