Vaccine not mandatory for return to school

Students and staff will not be required to be vaccinated in order to return to school plants this year.

In addition, general assemblies and the school schedules will return to their pre-pandemic arrangements.

Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw made those announcements in a circular sent to all principals yesterday ahead of the start of the 2022-2023 academic year on September 19.

“The school day will return to pre-pandemic scheduling,” Archer-Bradshaw indicated in the circular. “For example, some schools will be in session from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. while others will be in session from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.”

The circular also stated that although the three-foot distancing protocol would no longer be observed, mask-wearing would be required indoors at all times, while mask breaks would be allowed outdoors as needed.
