Tuach looking to rebound with a big splash

Barbados’ top female surfer Chelsea Tuach had a disappointing turn in the recently concluded BTMI Surf Pro competition despite a home advantage at the Soup Bowl, here in Bathsheba, St Joseph.

Tuach never found her top groove, and she exited in the round of 16. The Barbadian sensation had also fallen just shy of Olympic qualification for Paris, France, after failing to advance to the sixth round from her Repachage 5 heat in the ISA World Surfing Games in Puerto Rico last month.

With two successive disappointments in tow, Tuach is still very positive about her 2024/2025 season but said the current season was looking like one to forget. “It was unfortunate with regards to my set waves not coming as I would have wanted and also because I felt some of the judges made hard calls against me.

“They deemed I paddled for a wave and took priority from me to give to the girl in third, who got the score on the wave. It’s hard to lose when you feel it was a less than fair call,” Tuach told the DAILY NATION.
