Dusseldorf – Barbadian Tristan Evelyn set a new national record in the final of the women’s 60-metre indoor dash at the ISTAF Indoor in Germany.
Evelyn, who also holds the outdoor 100 metres mark of 11.14 seconds set back in May 2021, added another milestone to her name with a time of 7.21 seconds at the ISS Dome on Sunday.
The previous record was 7.29 seconds, set by Ashley Marshall in 2016.
The Olympian finished third behind the winner Poland’s Ewa Swoboda (7.18) and Germany’s Gina Luckenkemper (7.18).
This meet, part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour, also marked Mario Burke’s return to competitive action after more than a year. He picked up an injury at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games which were held in Japan in 2021.
The Nike professional placed sixth in the final of the men’s 60m indoor in a time of 6.72 seconds after qualifying from Heat 1 in 6.67. The men’s final was won by Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu (6.60). (RW)
