One of the most noticeable structures in the historic capital, the Treasury Building, looked quite different yesterday.
The six-storey building adjacent to National Heroes Square had become a temporary solace for several homeless people, but that all changed when they were told to leave the property and take their belongings yesterday.
The area was then sanitised with the assistance of workers from the Sanitation Service Authority while the police were on hand to ensure the smoothness of the operation.
“Information reaching me as MP for The City is that the building manager is leading the charge to get the building cleaned and prepared. Barbados would’ve been put on notice sometime back that we are transitioning the old Treasury building into live-in accommodation,” Corey Lane said yesterday when asked about who ordered the removal.
