More pressure is being on the Government to resume face-to-face teaching.
Earlier today, scores of children and parents with placards, protested at the Bay Street Esplanade, St Michael, chanting slogans such as “Open the Schools”, “Put Kids First” and “No More Online”.
The group, Safely Open Schools Barbados, is hoping to raise more awareness about the difficulties of online teaching.
Some of the parents expressed dissatisfaction that some students were left at home while parents went to work. There were also issues with devices.
For a short period in 2021 there was physical teaching, but that was ended after more COVID-19 surges.
Mostly recently, the January 24 date identified for the resumption of face-to-face classes was pushed back. However, new Minister of Education, Kay McConney, said they were working on resuming in-person teaching on February 21. (TG)
