Thousands flock to Kensington Oval for Open day

With the International Cricket Council  Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup just a few days away, Kensington Oval opened the grounds to the public to take the opportunity of guided tours .

The numbers far exceeded expectations as people came out in their numbers  for a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the renovated venue which will host nine matches including the highly anticipated final.

From the time patrons entered the gates they were met with entertainment in the form of shaggy bears, Mother Sally’s and energetic tuk music from the band Iz A Vybe.

The infectious music incorporating melodic flutes echoed throughout the grounds as patrons ascended the steps of the oval to partake in the day’s activities.

After an official address from the Chairman of Kensington Oval Management Inc. Damien Gaskin, all in attendance were put into large groups with their assigned tour guides and taken throughout the facility to experience the mecca in its full glory.

The main areas visited on the tour were the various stands, including the newly constructed grand stand which towers over the arena providing an optimal view of the city at its apex. Visitors were also shown the newly renovated media centre, the physio room, locker rooms and refurbished bathrooms. Tours continued throughout the afternoon. (DG)
