Swim team looking to make waves

BARBADOS’ CARIFTA’s swim team will leave the island on Wednesday looking to create a big splash when they land in The Bahamas for the 37th edition of the aquatic championships.

The 25-member squad, which is coached by long serving Dave Farmer and Aisha Norville, will be captained by 15–17 competitors Kenyah Deane and Joshua Ross. Harold Lewis will coach the open water competitors, Alexis Lashley, Brendan Gill and Matthew Lashley.

“The boys put in just as much work as the girls, but in the Caribbean, the boys face more competition. But I expect the boys, just like the girls, to give their best in the Bahamas,” said Ross.

SQUAD Girls 11-12: Samiya Minnis, Aliyah Greaves, Kaija Eastmond, Kamicha Johnson, Simya Johnson, Jada Pounder Boys 11-12: Amir Gittens, Mihael Sobers.

Girls 13-14: Toria Alleyne, Kaitlin Balgobin, Heidi Stoute, Jaiya Simmons, Isabella Mayers, and Amiya Harrison Boys 13-14: Zachary Burke, Victor Ashby, Tariq Greenidge, Brendan Gill Girls 15-17: Sarah Bartlett, Kenyah Deane (captain) Boys 15-17: Joshua Ross (captain)
