Slain mother ‘a great loss’

Tracy Hope struggled to hold back tears as she looked at the number of people who came to a candlelight vigil in memory of her daughter Joel Hope.

Joel, a mother of four, died on her 26th birthday on February 7 after a stabbing incident involving several people at the Pine Basin, St Michael.

Family, friends and members of the community gathered at Princess Royal Avenue in The Pine, just across the street from a signboard bearing pictures of the deceased.

“I never know Joel had so many friends,” Tracy said. “To really see that they’re here to support me . . . . It’s hard. I going miss her.” (Nation News)
