Sheraton murder trial defence to start today

The prosecution closed its case yesterday against murder accused Hakeem Roberto Stuart.

Stuart, 24, of Shelbourne Gap, St Lawrence, Christ Church, has pleaded not guilty to murdering 32-year-old Damian Trotman on March 21, 2019.

Trotman, 32, of Highland, St Philip, was gunned down in Sheraton Centre in the area of the food court.

King’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim along with attorneys Sian Lange and Kamesha Benjamin are expected to begin their defence today.

The matter is being heard in the No. 3 Supreme Court, where Justice Carlisle Greaves is presiding. Director of Public Prosecutions Donna Babb-Agard KC and State Counsel Romario Straker are the prosecutors.

Justice Greaves told the six men and six women of the jury that by today they should be expected to hear closing addresses by both the prosecution and the defence, before he gives his summation.
