Scorpions 174-4 in their second Innings at lunch

Jamaica Scorpions reached 174 for four in their second innings when rain brought an early lunch against Barbados Pride on the final day of their second round match in the West Indies Championship on Friday at Kensington Oval, still trailing by 19.

At the interval, Paul Palmer was not out on 23 and fellow left-hander Alwyn Williams was not out on 17.

Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican gave Pride double success between lunch and tea when he removed his West Indies Test teammates, Jermaine Blackwood and Nkrumah Bonner for 61 and 37 respectively, after the pair shared 72 for the third wicket.

Bonner was caught at slip and Blackwood was caught at short leg, both batsmen playing tentatively forward, four overs apart in the first half-hour after lunch, and Scorpions slipped to 134 for four.

But Pride were frustrated when Palmer and Williams came together and shared 40 – unbroken – for the fifth wicket.

Warrican has so far taken 2-43 from 22 overs.
