It is with great anticipation that all Bajan horse racing enthusiasts and the racing world and will have their eyes glued to tomorrow’s 148th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
The event, which is set to run off at 6:57 p.m. could hold a piece of history for 35-year-old Barbadian trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.
Joseph will send out White Abarrio, one of the favourites looking to capture today’s run for the Roses. The three-year-old grey colt by Race Day out of Catching Diamonds, holds the impressive career statistics of four victories from his five lifetime outings.
In the early morning line odds, White Abarrio is pencilled in at 10/1 and will be coming out of gate number 15 in the 20-horse field. Owned by C2 Racing Stable LLC and La Milagrosa Stable, LLC, the colt will be ridden by regular partner jockey Tyler Gaffalione, who, like Joseph, is looking for his first Derby success. (LY)
