Sada aiming to bring home gold

Barbados’ track darling Sada Williams wants to hear her country’s National Anthem being played at next year’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

The record-breaking Commonwealth Games gold medallist in the women’s 400 metres in Birmingham, wants to improve on her bronze medal at the last World Championships in Eugene, Oregon when she clocked a new national time of 49.75 seconds.

“A gold medal of course. That’s the major meet that I know of next year, so I am definitely aiming for the gold medal there,” Williams told Weekend Sport in an interview following the Barbados Olympic Association’s 2022 Awards ceremony last Monday night at Hilton Barbados Resort.

Williams, 25, walked away with the lion’s share of honours as she was named Senior Female Athlete Of The Year while also winning the International Excellence Award and President’s Award. (EZS)
