Rush is on to beat the heat

Barbadians are doing everything possible to beat the heat.

And that has led to big bucks for businesses, as some people aim to get fans, air-conditioners, bottled water, or even sno-cones, to cool down.

Some Bridgetown businesses yesterday reported a significant increase in the sales of cooling appliances and beverages, as temperatures surpassed 32 degrees Celsius in some areas and even reached 34 degrees in the north of the island.

Earlier this week, the Barbados Meteorological Services released a statement noting the maximum temperatures have been between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, and those temperatures were not unusual for Barbados in the months of September and October.

But do not tell that to the average Barbadian on the street, who has been rushing into stores most of the summer season.
