Rain stops play at Kensington

Rain is threatening to put a damper on the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup match between England and Scotland at Kensington Oval.

After the start of play was delayed by almost an hour, intermittent showers have limited play in the Group B clash to just 6.2 overs.

Scotland, batting first after winning the toss, made a positive start to reach 51 without loss before rain sent the players off the field shortly before noon.

As the rain eased, a resumption was scheduled for 12:20 p.m. but the showers retuned shortly after.

Before the interruption, Scotland openers Michael Jones, who is unbeaten on 29 and George Murray, who is on 17, played with enterprise against an England attack featuring Barbados-born fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan. (HG)
