QC double crown champions

Zane Gaskin and Zachary Haynes produced outstanding performances as Queen’s College were crowned double champions in the Under-14 and Under-16 divisions of the National Sports Council’s Secondary Schools Basketball League Championships.

The Under-14 squad defeated Harrison College 56-53 and the Under-16 squad also trounced Harrison College 76-49 in the finals on Thursday afternoon at the Barbados Community College gym that was packed with parents and students.

In the Under-14 final, Gaskin was unstoppable almost every time he drove to the basket. He put on a master class with an impressive 27 points. He was a menace at both ends of the floor as he also defended like his life depended on it.

Gaskin had assistance in the form of Tion Barker, who had a good defensive shift making sure he also scored a few baskets for six points. (DG)
