West Indies white-ball captain Kieron Pollard is ready to work with newly appointed lead selector, The Most Honourable Desmond Haynes, ahead of a hectic 2022 cricket schedule, which begins today with the first One-day International (ODI) against Ireland in Jamaica.
During a pre-match news conference yesterday, Pollard said he is willing to join forces with the batting icon to propel Windies cricket to a higher level.
“The board has decided that they have not renewed the previous selection committee and Desmond Haynes is chairman,” Pollard told reporters. “Again, I look forward to working with Dessie.
“I worked with him before with the Barbados Tridents. I know he has West Indies cricket at heart and he will come with different ideas, and it is something that we have to sit down and marry. It is more about understanding what direction the cricket wants to go in terms of how we select the teams. I look forward to working with Dessie and see how it goes.”
