Parkinson closed after students and teachers fall sick

Efforts are on to trace the possible cause after both students and teachers at the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School became ill on Wednesday.

Those operating from a certain block at the Pine, St Michael school reported feeling unwell and had to seek medical attention. They are all said to be recovering.

As a result, the Ministry of Education Technological and Vocational Training informed staff, parents and guardians that the school would be closed today and they are engaged in online learning and teaching.

Yesterday evening, the National Petroleum Corporation used leak detection equipment while the Barbados Fire Department tested for the presence of flammable gases. No evidence of any gases was found.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness will continue their investigations on Thursday.

Parents and guardians are asked to listen for further updates on the reopening of the school. (PR/SAT)
