Negotiations between Government and the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) will continue.
After a meeting with the membership last night at the Dalkeith, St Michael headquarters, union leaders were given a mandate to continue negotiations although Government had moved from its initial position.
“This meeting is a furtherance to the last meeting that we had where the Government had increased their offer. We too had moved our offer at the last meeting to a point where we thought would have been a little more reasonable. At that last meeting our members had given us clear instructions to continue to negotiate much in the same way that we have been negotiating before,” said general secretary Richard Green.
Green declined to state the current figures on the table.
Government’s last offer was reported to be about seven per cent over three years, but workers have concerns about taxes, statutory deductions and other issues. (Nation News)
