NAPSAC setback

The popular National Primary Schools’ Athletic Championships (NAPSAC) will be pushed back.

Chairperson of NAPSAC, Althea Belgrave, confirmed the 2024 edition will be delayed due to the incomplete rehabilitation of the Ryan Brathwaite Track at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex at the University of the West Indies (UWI).

Belgrave’s official announcement came yesterday after the NAPSAC committee met following knowledge that UWI would not be able to follow through on their assurance of the facilities being ready for February 19, NAPSAC’s initial start date.

Last Friday, Minister of Sport Charles Griffith convened a meeting with NAPSAC, UWI and the committee of the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletic Championships (BSSAC) where it was established the track would not be relaid in time for the opening of the primary schools’ athletics meet.
