Mother found not guilty in son’s death

Felisha Osulu Holder, the mother who had been accused of causing her son’s death by dangerous driving at Coverley, Christ Church, was found not guilty when her trial concluded in the No 5A Supreme Court yesterday.

Holder, 36, a clothing designer, of Hopefield, Christ Church, had been arraigned with causing the death of her 11-year-old son Abijah Holder-Phillips by driving her car on the Adams section of the ABC Highway, on June 26, 2015, in a manner and at a speed dangerous to the public.

Senior State Counsel Romario Straker prosecuted the matter, while Holder was represented by Sir Elliott Mottley, SC, and attorney Romain Marshall.

Yesterday, the nine-member mixed jury took less than hour to come to its unanimous decision.

Justice Christopher Birch, who presided, then told Holder she was free to go. (HLE)
