Met Office expects heat record

It is going to get hotter, and there is no relief in sight, says director of the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS), Sabu Best.

Commenting on the scorching temperatures being felt daily across the island, he told the DAILY NATION the record-breaking heat of last year could be repeated this year.

“The heat is relentless, especially with the no-rainfall events. We expect it is going to be similar to what we had last year, again here in 2024. Be ready,” he said.

The highest temperature recorded in September 2005 at 33.1° Celsius was shattered last September at 34.2°C. This year it could peak at 35°C, Best warned. (NS)
