‘Let’s work together’

Prime Minister Mia Mottley issued a rallying cry to Barbadians to stay the course after a difficult year characterised by high fuel costs and rising inflation.

Mottley said while issues such as these were outside of Government’s control, they did the best to ease the burden of the people.

“It will not always be easy and we will not always have control over everything. We are seeing the prices of freight coming back down. We see the prices of oil come back down but we all know in the last year that we faced some of the highest oil prices that the world has seen.

“The Government has worked and tried to, as far as possible, to help . . . and keep the markups down, to make sure we carry ’long everybody’,” she added.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the National Botanical Gardens yesterday where the Barbados Labour Party and its supporters were celebrating the one-year anniversary of a second 30-0 sweep at the polls.

She also promised the people of St Peter and St Lucy that relief was on the way from the water woes, but it would take some time, as they did for St Joseph. (Nation News)
