Lawmakers ‘may have to relook buggery laws’

Parliament may soon have to relook the buggery laws following the decision by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) that a man can be charged with raping another man.

This is according to Pastor Corey Beckles, an attorney, who said lawmakers were now in an interesting position as gay rights advocates had been calling for the removal of the buggery laws for years.

He featured in discussion on the issue in yesterday’s Brass Tacks Sunday on Starcom Network.

On Tuesday, the CCJ ruled that laws pertaining to rape were gender neutral. (TG)
