Late pay being ‘sorted’

Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey says the late payment issue affecting National Assistance Board (NAB) contract workers is being addressed.

He gave the assurance on Thursday after complaints from Elder Care Companion workers, who are paid bi-monthly, of not receiving their end of January payments.

“The funds have been sent to the bank, who advised this morning that persons should start receiving funds by today. We expected all to be paid by the latest, early next week, though I am hopeful it will be mostly settled today and tomorrow,” Humphrey said.

Several NAB workers complained they could not pay their bills due to the late funds. (TG)
