Nineteen-year-old Kevon Hinds is the first Barbadian athlete with a chance of winning a medal at the 49th edition of the CARIFTA Games when he competes in the Under-20 Discus Throw final this evening at the National Stadium here in Kingston, Jamaica.
No Barbadian has ever struck gold in this event in the history of the region’s most prestigious track and field meet.
However, a fully pumped up Hinds could change that daunting statistic around 6:05 p.m. (Barbados time).
Hinds, a student of The St Michael Student, is also in action in the Under-20 boys’ shot put.
He was fourth in the Under-17 boys’ shot put in Cayman Islands three years ago. He produced marks of 15.71, 16.62 and 17.32 to qualify this year. (AGB)
