Nikkolai Kennedy advanced to the final of the Under-20 boys’ 110-metre hurdles after finishing third in heat one of the semi-finals this morning, the final day of the 49th CARIFTA Games in Kingston, Jamaica.
Kennedy clocked 14.90 seconds to book his spot in the final, set for 5:35 p.m. Barbados time.
Nya Browne will also compete in the Under-20 girls’ 100-metre hurdles final scheduled for 5:10 p.m.
There were no semi-finals for this event nor the 4×400-metre relays, those going to straight finals after several athletes and teams dropped out.
Long jump bronze medallist Aren Spencer is in the Under-20 boys’ triple jump final and will have his eyes set on winning a third straight gold medal for Barbados in the event.
Layla Haynes, who won Barbados’ first medal of the games, a bronze in the Under-20 girls’ 1500-metres, will compete in the 800 metres finals tonight.
Barbados is currently sixth in the medal tally with six – one gold, two silver and three bronze. (AGB)
