Jamaica on alert for possible resurgence of COVID-19 infections

Jamaica’s Ministry of Health & Wellness, through its Epidemiology Unit and International Health Regulation Unit, is monitoring local and global covid-19 trends as the country remains on alert for a possible resurgence in infections.

That’s the word from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-McKenzie.

She said on Friday that the Ministry has also been ensuring the readiness of its covid-19 prevention and treatment apparatus, including the availability of vaccines and hospital bed space.

The Chief Medical Offer was speaking on Radio Jamaica’s Beyond the Headlines.

She added that the health authorities are concerned that Jamaicans could become complacent about COVID-19 prevention measures.

She stressed however that, with the number of cases on the rise across the world now is not the time for members of the public to drop their guard. (RJR)
