Historic win for Scotland

Scotland can now boast of beating Namibia in a T20 International – a feat they achieved for the first time yesterday on the biggest stage of the game.

After losing three previous T20 International matches against Namibia, Scotland turned the tables by winning a keen duel by five wickets with nine balls remaining in their Group B match of the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup at Kensington Oval.

Given that very little separated the two teams in the ICC T20 rankings – Namibia are 13th and Scotland 14th – the match lived up to its expectations of a competitive affair that was decided in the penultimate over.

It looked likely to go down to the final over for much of Scotland’s run chase but captain Richie Berrington and Michael Leask accelerated at crunch time in a fifth-wicket partnership of 74 off 38 balls after they joined forces with the match in the balance at 73 for four in the 11th over.
