Gunman must pay $35 000

A judge said she “shuddered to think” what could have happened if Jamar Carieous Browne’s younger sibling had got hold of the gun he stashed in his bedroom.

“Only you, Jamar Browne, know with what intention you possessed the firearm and ammunition,” Justice Pamela Beckles told him in the No 5 Supreme Court yesterday.

“But what I do know is that you had this loaded firearm with an extra magazine in a house occupied by your mother and younger brother. I shudder to think what could have happened if this loaded firearm had found itself in the hands of your younger brother. But thankfully, that did not happen and this firearm and ammunition are off the streets,” she added.

Browne, of 2nd Avenue, Arthur’s Land, Tweedside Road, St Michael, had pleaded guilty, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, to having a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol and 23 .40 full metal jacket rounds of ammunition on November 9, 2017. (HLE)
