Rastafarians who were persecuted for their marijuana usage should be some of the main beneficiaries of any cannabis industry in Barbados says members of the Mount Carmel Tabernacle.
They made that point yesterday as they urged the government to meet with them again regarding the Sacramental Cannabis Bill.
Bongo Isaiah said although he was pleased steps were being taken to reduce the stigma associated with the controversial plant, he did not support the limitations being placed on their community’s usage and cultivation of ganja.
“We give thanks that it reached another stage because it was rough before to even have a roach. However, we are not fully satisfied because we are limited in what we can do.
“They want to tell us we have to grow X amount of trees and then they have to come and look at them,” Isaiah said yesterday.
