Flash flood watch

A flash flood watch is in effect for Barbados.

A flash flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than 6 hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area, but it does not mean that flooding will occur.

A tropical wave is presently affecting the island and is generating some occasional light to moderate showers across the island.

Maximum rainfall accumulations of 25.0 to 50.0 mm in heavy showers during the late morning and into the afternoon are likely. In addition, gusty winds associated with this shower activity are expected particularly during this afternoon.

A flash flood warning could be issued later today and at short notice. The public is advised to monitor the situation closely with the Barbados Meteorological Services. (PR/SAT)
