Five babies before noon on Christmas Day

Five babies, three boys and two girls, were born at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital up to this evening.

Due to the hospital’s COVID-19 protocols, the Nation team was unable to visit the ward to speak to the new mothers or take pictures and relied on information provided by the hospital itself.

The first Yuletide babe was born to Shara Babb in the wee hours, a baby boy. He arrived at 12:56 a.m. and was the largest of the day, weighing slightly more than nine pounds.

The next baby blessed Aliyah Gibson, 26, who gave birth to a girl weighing around seven pounds at 3:02 a.m. and at 5:30 a.m., 33-year-old Nikita Watson welcomed her daughter, who also weighed around seven pounds.

At 6:05 a.m., Alicia Holder, 35, gave birth to a baby boy weighing slightly more than seven pounds.

The fifth bundle of joy arrived around 11:25 a.m. It was a boy who weighed almost seven-and-a half pounds. (CA)
