Ellis and Edwards rule inroad tennis

Police officer Tito Ellis and Emar Edwards dismissed challenges from teenager Deontae Laga Chapman and Dwayne Lynch, respectively, when the Call Out road tennis craze continued on Thursday night in Bush Hall.

Playing at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Centre, Ellis used all of his experience and guile to defeat the attacking Chapman 24-22, 16-21, 22-20.

Chapman had issued the challenge to Ellis, who is more known as a scorer in tennis and a drummer in the Barbados Police Service Band and Crop Over bands.

With Chapman blasting any high balls with frightening power, Ellis decided to overfeed his opponent with them and the eagerness of the 15-year-old led to him squandering an advantage of 20-16 to lose the first game. (KB)
