Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Donna Babb-Agard KC yesterday implored the 12-member jury to find Hakeem Roberto Stuart guilty after carefully weighing all the evidence.
She was delivering her closing argument in the murder trial of Stuart, 24, of Shelbourne Gap, St Lawrence, Christ Church, who has denied killing Damian Trotman at Sheraton Centre on March 21, 2019.
“The state brought this case against the accused and it is therefore incumbent on the state to bring the evidence that makes you sure. We are asking you to be convinced with the evidence we have brought can make you feel sure that he murdered Damian Trotman on the day in question,” she told the 12-member jury.
The DPP told the jurors they had sat in the Supreme Court No. 3 for nearly three and a half weeks and heard a number of witnesses give testimony, including members of the blind community, members of the media, people who were at Sheraton Centre during the shooting, doctors, lawmen who investigated the matter and collected video footage, telephone and intelligence analysts on the phone calls made from Stuart’s phone, and Aziza Clarke, who Babb-Agard said assisted Stuart with his escape, even if she did not realise what she was doing at the time.
