Doc: Stigma hurting med cannabis

Over the next two years, rehabilitation specialist Dr Harley Moseley III would like a wider variety of medicinal cannabis products on the market. He would also like to see full decriminalisation of cannabis.

These moves, he suggested, would go some way to allay some of the stigma associated with the herb and ease some people’s fear of using it as a medicine.

“I find right now we’re limited in what we can prescribe. We need to get some creams for osteoarthritis, for example, because that is very common in an ageing population such as ours. I have found that cannabis oil, for example, has helped a lot to alleviate the menopausal symptoms in ageing women,” he added.

Moseley was part of an online panel discussion on Thursday night hosted by the Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA), titled Reflections On The BMCLA And The Medicinal Cannabis Industry: Year I. (RA)
