Director’s plea to utility companies

Director of Ammar Empowerment Network Ambrose Carter is pleading with utility companies to look deeper into the reasons why some individuals were struggling to pay bills.

Carter said rather than people mismanaging funds, many were dealing with issues related to unemployment.

“We have been seeing a rush of more individuals coming forward. We find that there is still hardship in society. Individuals have been out of work for a while, and we find ourselves having to put back on light, water and gas.

“However, in my view, they are not given enough leeway and time to get themselves together and make payments, or even manageable payment plans,” Carter said.

He was speaking last Saturday after Barbados Hash House Harriers presented the network with about 100 Christmas gifts. (Nation News)
