Dame Billie honoured
Former Deputy Prime Minister Dame Billie Miller has been presented with the inaugural award for women who have broken through the glass ceiling in the field of international trade by the Shridath Ramphal Centre for International Trade Law Policy and Services at the UWI Cave Hill Campus.
The honour was bestowed on Tuesday, International Women’s Day, on the former parliamentarian who served Barbados in a wide range of capacities.
In a special video tribute in recognition of the award, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley described Dame Billie as “a Barbadian living “legend of her time” whose service to the country has run the gamut, ranging from politics, to securing access to health care for women and girls and representation of Barbados at the international level.
The Prime Minister hailed Dame Billie’s contribution, saying her legacy was “as rich as it is varied”. (GC)
