COVID-19 update for Tuesday, September 20

Health authorities reported on Wednesday another 42 people were identified with the novel coronavirus (COVID) in Barbados.

The authorities stated in their daily news release issued though the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS), 31 males and 11 females – including four young people under the age of 18 – were detected with the viral illnes from the 378 tests conducted on Tuesday, September 20, by laboratories across the island.

At the time of reporting, there were 34 people being medically treated in government isolation facilities, while 260 were being monitored under the home isolation of the Ministry of Health.

The health authorities also indicated that 163 606 people (71.6 per cent of the eligible population) have been administered at least one dose of a COVID-10 vaccine under the national vaccination programme.

The number of people considered fully vaccinated was 154 616 (57 per cent of the total population or 67.7 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population is anyon 12 years and older.
