Health authorities reported on Thursday that another 431 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was detected in Barbados.
According to a news release from the Barbados Government Information Servicce, the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 181 males and 250 females from the 1 169 tests they conducted on Wednesday, August 10.
The cases comprised 60 young people under the age of 18, and 371 adults of 18 years or older.
Health authorities also indicated that 78 people were in government isolation facilities, while the number of individuals in home isolation had climbed to 4 016.
The total number of people under the national vaccination programme for COVID-19 that have received at least one dose of a vaccine is 163 029 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).
The total number of fully vaccinated people has risen to 154 139 (56.9 per cent of the total population or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population).
The eligible population represents anyone 12 years or older.
