Chukka Barbados welcomes new country manager

Experienced tourism professional Geoffrey Roach has been appointed country manager of Chukka Barbados, operators of Harrison’s Cave.

“I am looking forward to working with the Chukka team to maintain Harrison’s Cave as an attractive and exciting attraction for all patrons within a multi-experience facility,” said Roach, adding that the team was a vibrant one and he was looking forward to building on the foundation that had been laid.

Roach brings more than 30 years of experience in leadership roles within several organisations, of which ten were in senior/managerial positions in the tourism industry. He is the former chairman of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, former chief executive officer of Bridgetown Cruise Terminals Inc. and was a director of both the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) and the Barbados Tourism Product Authority.

Chukka Barbados chief executive officer Marc Melville expressed delight over Roach joining the team.

“His expertise and innovative leadership are key to advancing our vision of providing lifelong memories through imbedded authentic adventurous experiences.

“At the same time, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Andrea Franklin, who has been instrumental in Chukka’s success, especially since the reopening of Harrison’s Cave,” Melville said.

The CEO praised Franklin’s dedication during the pandemic as well as her ability to overcome significant challenges, and said her leadership in transforming Harrison’s Cave into an all-day eco-adventure park had been remarkable. Melville added that Chukka was grateful for Franklin’s commitment and contribution to the business’ journey and wished her the best in her new role as chief of the BTMI.

Roach took up the role of country manager (designate) on February 19, 2024, and worked closely with Franklin before taking up the position on March 15, 2024. (PR/KNB)
