BWA UPDATE: Emergency work at Belle Pumping Station

In an update, Barbados Water Authority (BWA) said that emergency work commences today at the Belle Pumping Station.

A statement from BWA today said that the station would be offline between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and again between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

On Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12, the station will be taken offline between 9 a.m. and noon and again between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. each day.

Residents and businesses in some St Michael and Christ Church districts, may be affected by low-pressure and outages. This may also affect The City.

“We would strongly recommend that customers continue to store water to assist during the period of work. The recommended amount is five gallons per person per [day]. Water should be stored in clean, covered containers. Remember, that in addition to storing water, it is always useful to have disinfecting wipes and hand sanitiser accessible to help keep you and your surroundings sanitary.”

The statement said water tankers will be dispatched to assist customers in affected areas as a temporary measure. However, there may be delays due to heavy demand. (PR)
