Barbados’ national under 17 football team has been drawn in a tough-looking Group F at the 2023 Concacaf Under 17 Championship to be played in Guatemala from February 11 to 23.
The Young Tridents will have the United States of America, Canada, and Trinidad and Tobago for company in their group in what is almost a repeat of their group from the 2019 edition which was hosted in the USA from May 1 to 16.
The tournament begins with a 16-team group phase with four groups being contested. After playing each team in the group once, the best three teams in each group will move on to the knockout phase where they will be joined by Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Puerto Rico, who won their groups at the 2022 Concacaf Under 17 Men’s qualifiers. From the round of 16 onward, all matches will be played in a single-match elimination format. The four semifinalists will represent the confederation at the 2023 FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Peru.
The tournament’s 39 games will be played at the Estadio Nacional Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City and the Estadio Pensativo in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala.
